Over the last few years, media funded by venture capital has largely destroyed the public's trust in journalism. Whether it be due to investors demanding a politcal agenda be churned out in the content, or advertisers setting the rules for a given platform, the media has become stale. At Popular Front, we don't want that. Advertisers will not be taking control of our work and we won't be curbing how we do things to please anyone. This means we have no large-scale funding. We make everything on a shoestring.
To keep afloat, to keep making proper independent journalism with the Popular Front ethos, we rely on a grassroots approach to make money: We do extra content subscriptions on Patreon, we sell our merchandise, we allow some advertising from ethical places only, and we receive donations and sponsorship. We believe this is the only way we can remain properly independent.
If you like what we do and want to keep it moving forward, please consider supporting us in someway below. It all helps.
For the price of one coffee a month you can get Popular Front bonus episodes, which amounts basically to a second podcast in itself. The bonus episodes cover all sorts, from speaking to Russian jihadists in Syria, to hearing how Colombia's first suicide car bomb was built.
On the Patreon you can also access the Popular Front community Discord, get podcast episodes early, watch behind the scenes footage, listen to narrated articles, and watch the Too Cool for J-School educational series.
